Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
At Edward Betham we believe that all children should receive an education appropriate to their needs.
We want the very best education for all our children and are committed to a policy of inclusion where the needs of the children can be met effectively in our school.
Some children do require extra help with particular areas of their learning and when a need has been identified, the child is placed on the Special Needs register. The class teacher with advice from the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCO), then draws up a provision map for the pupil. The provision map contains a description of the child's needs, targets for learning, strategies to be used and any extra support that will be given. The provision map is reviewed at least once a term and parents/carers and pupils are involved in every step.
